Hello ~ Betty and Bill and Family, today was ~ Minnie's funeral. She looked wonderful. She did not look like she was 92 years old, maybe 20 years younger.
~ Minnie was just perfect. This is how well the undertaker and the hairdresser made her look. ~ Kay had done her hair and ~ Minnie had always thought the world of her.
These last few weeks, I was not able to do the hard work, due to my health. There were 3 other health aids, that came in and cared for until her passing.
~ Minnie always knew that I was there, comforting her and praying for her. I would see her daily and talk with her, give her any food and drink and most of all, she loved her small vanilla ice cream cups.
This was somewhat hard on me, knowing she was crossing over. We had both come to care for one another in the short time, we knew each other.
Each day, I had prayed for her loved ones, to come too her and help her cross over and guide her towards the white light.
I will certainly miss ~ Minnie, she was one of a kind and you always knew where you stood with her. To me, even though I was only with her for just 2 1/2 years, it was, as if, I had known her all of my whole life.
She was one tuff cookie and had a strong will. I had always told her, she was lucky to find me, the very first time, that we had ever met, because she would of run off everyone else, LOL.
She never bothered me, with her strong will, I would chuckle at her. I grew up with strong willed woman, all of my life and somehow, I had the patience to care for her, where others would of never stayed to care for her. I thought of her, as if she was my Mother or Grandmother.
So today has been a somber day and a time to reflect on my relationship with ~ Minnie. I would have never met this dear lady, if I had not became ill and I needed some kind of income.
I decided to try being someone's Senior Companion and I created a flyer and gave it to my local Memorial Health and Hospice office and not too soon after, I received a call from ~ Betty and went for a meet and greet and they liked me and then I started ~ My Journey with Minnie ~
She needed me, just as much as I needed her, in this time in both of our lives. I had often wished, that I could of taken care of her, without needing an income. I just enjoyed helping her and being around her, all of the time.
I came to her for a "reason" and only stayed with her a "few seasons". She was such a remarkable woman, and She always said, she lived her life on her terms and she always knew that she would pay for her decisions on the back end of her life.
I know, sometime in the future, she will visit me in my dreams. I told her many times, that she could. Over the years, I have had many loved ones visit me in my dreams. When she is settled in, up in Heaven, she will be around, I can count on it.
~ With my Deepest Sympathy,
~ Rebecca Werner
