Obituary of Francis A. Shook

Francis Andrew Shook, age 78, passed away peacefully at his Pennsville, NJ home on January 25, 2021. Francis, more commonly known as "Frank", was known for his large, contagious laugh and unique sense of humor. He had the gift of gab and made an impression on all who met him. An electrician by trade, Frank had been employed at Dupont Chambers Works and traveled the country doing electrical QA/QC work at many Nuclear Power Plants. He was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop 82 with the Southern New Jersey Council. He also served on the Pennsville Board of Education in the early eighties. Francis was born in Johnstown, PA and resided there until his early 20s. It was there that he worked at Johnstown Cut Flower and discovered his passion for flowers. He eventually had his own landscaping business while living in Pennsylvania. Flower gardening continued to be a life-long passion and he could always be considered a source of reference on gardening. Mr. Shook loved vacationing with his family every August in the Outer Banks of NC. He enjoyed swimming, running, painting, photography, and traveling. One of his favorite hobbies was researching his family genealogy back to Poland and Slovakia. He loved to reminisce about his youth in Johnstown, PA with his brother, Ed and friends, exploring the mountain and building cabins. Mr. Shook is survived by his wife, Katherine (Hughes); children, Rebecca "Becky" Boucher (John), Mark Shook (Janice), Amanda Shook (Ed Swydersky); granddaughter, Morgan Boucher and many nieces, nephews, and family. He was predeceased by his father, Andrew Francis Shook, mother, Agnes (Kislan) Shook, and brother, Edward Shook. There are no services scheduled at this time. Mr. Shook will be laid to rest at a later date, with his parents and brother in Johnstown, PA.
