Obituary of Edward J. Goss

Edward Joseph Goss, Jr., 83, of Mannington, passed away on January 30, 2021. Born on September 24, 1937 in Camden, NJ, Edward grew up in Woodbury Heights and later moved to Woodstown. Most recently, he resided in Mannington. Ed graduated from Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades (now Williamson College of the Trades) in June 1957. This is where he learned his skill of carpentry, which became his life's work. He then joined the Army (82nd Airborne) in June 1958 and served until November 1963. Edward was a carpenter by trade for most his life. He built many homes from start to finish as well as remodeled many others. His skills and attention to detail were remarkable. Later in his life, he went to work at Anchor Hocking in Salem and eventually retired from there. In his down time, Ed enjoyed looking for and collecting arrowheads, old bottles, coins, and antiques. He also enjoyed the occasional fishing trip, going to the casinos, and playing the lottery. Edward is survived by his children Betsy (Dan) McAteer of Pitman, Edward III (Tammy) of Alloway, Charles (Christie) of Pennsville, Tammy (Elex) Simpkins of Missouri, and Andrew of Mannington with whom he lived; grandchildren Amanda, Daniel, Joey, Kyle, Cody, Dylan, Cora, Cathryn, Thomas, Gabriel, Hailey, and Andrew; great-grandchild Sybil; siblings Betty Hammond, Edna Johnson, Marilyn Noland, Carol Sue Messina, Jeannette Lilley, James Goss, Frank Goss, John Goss; predeceased by son Aaron and siblings Donald Goss, Rosemary Redrow, and Dorothy Kennedy-Murphy.
