Obituary of Robert E. Liable, Sr.

Robert Liable, Sr., 89 of Woodstown, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born in Philadelphia, Bob resided in Woodstown with his wife of 66 years, Marie, previously living in Pennsville, Quinton, Lower Alloways Creek, and Punta Gorda, Florida. Along with his wife Marie, he is survived by his children Jo Ann (Paul), Deborah, Robert Jr. (Denise), John (Lavonne), and Louise (Keith); sisters Sissy, and Phyllis (Bruce), and brother-in-law Parky. Additional family members include grandchildren Melissa, Matt, Ashley, Hilary, Katie, Paige, Bekah, Eddie, Kiersten, Sierra, and Kristen; and great grandchildren Hailey, Kaleb, Emilee, Natalie, Isabella, Kami, and Caiden. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Marie Liable, sister, Joann, brothers-in-law Joe and Tim, son Ed, and granddaughter, Alanna. Bob graduated from Salem High School, and served four years in the Air Force. He also attended Goldey-Beacom College. He worked as a carpenter/millwright, contributing from the beginning in the construction of the Salem Generating Station, and retired in 1993. Bob was a member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles, and Salem Boat Club for many years. Farming, reading, fishing, building things, and attending family events filled Bob's spare time. He was well known for his sweet tooth and appreciation of good food. Marie says Bob was the love of her life from Day One. His children remember Bob for being loving, generous, and hardworking. He valued friendship and was always willing to teach and share his knowledge, leading by example. Some of the things Bob's grandchildren remember about Pop-Pop are his kindness, the way he spoiled them, opening gifts with him on Christmas mornings, eating ginger snaps and drinking homemade lemonade with him, his Septemberfest parties, the way he was the Cookie Bake Inspector - always checking on the ladies to make sure they were doing their jobs, fishing with him on the river, teaching the value of making lists, playing games at his home, borrowing his glasses, the way he loved hard with a heart of gold, getting tight hugs and sharing memories of their parents, and thinking how he was the strongest man they knew.
