Obituary of Alfred George Thompson

Fred Thompson, aged 57, passed away on November 13, 2011 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Fred was born on March 23, 1954 in Penns Grove, New Jersey. He was a 1972 graduate of Penns Grove High School where he excelled at Track & Field. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Chemistry and received his MS in Human Resources and MBA from Wilmington College. Fred worked for numerous companies throughout his career, including DuPont/Merck and Fluor Daniel. Most recently Fred was a pharmaceutical engineer and entrepreneur. His latest business ventures were Global Turnkey Services (GTKS) and Splash Swim Center in Pennsville. Fred was an avid war history buff, and enjoyed reading, fishing, boating, watching his favorite sports teams and traveling. Fred was predeceased by his mother Carmella Spina Thompson, father George Thompson, uncle Carmen Spina, grandparents and other relatives. Fred is survived by his wife Connie, brother Harry and his wife Lonni, and many close and extended family members. He also leaves behind many friends who cared for him deeply. He will be dearly missed. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM on Friday Nov. 18 at the St. Gabriel the Archangel, Corpus Christi Church, Carneys Point. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville. Burial will be at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.
