Obituary of Anna C. Comperatore

Anna (Sabastiana)Christina Pomo Comperatore, age 88 of Pennsville passed away at the Christiana Hospital December 30, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, PA to Italian immigrants John and Joan Pomo. At age thirteen she won a scholarship to attend the Philadelphia Academy of Art. During World War II she worked at the Philadelphia Naval Yard and sang with a band during the noon time break, she had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, singing and spending time with family. In 1948 she wed Antonio (Tony) Comeratore, Tony passed away in 1993. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Thompson of Philadelphia and Joanna Jones and her husband Wayne of New Castle, DE sister Joan Simonton and her husband Ben of Florida, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews Predeceased by a brother Paul Pomo. Mass of Christian will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday Jan. 3, at the Corpus Christi Church/St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, Carneys Point where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the mass. Burial will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
