Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William G. "Pop" Scott, age 87, passed away Monday March 19, 2012 at Merion Gardens surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Scott was born March 8, 1925 to William and Nellie McManus Scott. He worked hard his whole life to provide for his family but never missed an opportunity to have a good time. He was drafted into the Army at the age of 18, and spent Three years active duty in Germany. He loved this country and was proud to have served, but he never forgot his Irish heritage. Known for his quick wit and infectious smile, he made a friend of everyone he met. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, 8 grandchildren and their spouses, his 11 great grandchildren and, number 12, William Scott Helt due in October. His favorite activity was attending their school activities and sporting events, where he was their biggest supporter. After retirement, he opened a bicycle repair shop out of his home, and took this opportunity to make even more friends. He could fix anything and the price was always the same, a smile and a handshake. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Helen Tillett (2011), his parents, sister, Edith and brother Tom. He is survived by his children, David Scott (Jane) of Turnersville, Eileen Eastlack (Carl) of Pennsville and Jeffrey Scott (Starlyn) of Pennsville; 8 grandchildren, Tara Audette (Michael), Moira Flanigan (Harry), Kelly Eastlack Helt (Brian), Sean Eastlack (Darla), Christopher Eastlack (Tracy), Ryan Scott, Erin Scott and Meghan Scott, 11 great grandchildren, Alycia, Liam, Abby, Lilly, Collette, Max, Ava, Chase, Payton, Riley, and Ireland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday March 24 at the St. Gabriel the Archangel Parrish, Queen of the Apostles Church, Pennsville. Friends may call Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville and again on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30 AM prior to the Mass. Burial will be at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Process
