Obituary of Aileen M Johnson

Aileen Murphy Johnson, age 91, of Pennsville died Friday, May 31st at Friends Village in Woodstown. Daughter of the late Charles and Bernice Murphy, and born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Aileen graduated with honors from Frankford High School. She received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Chestnut Hill College, studying with the renowned pianist Erno Balog. Aileen Moved to Penns Grove in 1948 upon her marriage to the late Harold C. Johnson. They moved to Pennsville in 1961 where she devoted much of her time to making a home for her husband and two daughters. She also worked as a talented pianist and skilled accompanist in the tri-state area until her retirement in 1996. She shared her love of music and the art of playing the piano with many young piano students throughout her career. Aileen was a life-long member of The Episcopal Church of Our Merciful Saviour in Carneys Point, NJ. She and her husband Harold were members of the Salem Country Club. Aileen is survived by her daughters Dale Lower and husband Charles of Orland, PA, and Joanne Ward and husband Charles of Pennsville; three grandchildren: Kathryn Lower of Brooklyn, NY, Rebecca Ward and husband Jonathan Dinerstein of Los Angeles, CA, and Russell Ward of Baltimore, MD.. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Murphy Thomas of Warminster, PA. A Memorial service to celebrate Aileen's life will be held on Saturday June 8, 2013 at 11:00AM at The Church of Our Merciful Saviour where friends may call from 10:00AM-11:00AM. A private burial will be held at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.
