Obituary of Robert L. Lawrence, Jr.

Robert L. Lawrence, Jr., age 64 of Pennsville was called home to be with Jesus, on November 23, 2013. He was born in Salem, NJ, the son of Robert Sr. and the late Sara Lawrence of Carney's Point, NJ. Bob was a member of the 1967 graduating class of Penns Grove High School. He graduated from Evangel College in 1971 and earned his Masters in Education thru Marygrove College. He was a dedicated teacher in the Pennsville School District, where he retired in 2011 after 40 years of service. He was class advisor for the PMHS Classes of 1983, 1994, and 2002. For many years, he and his wife served in the community as youth leader of Seed of Abraham Ministries and advisors to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Baccalaureate, and Rotary International's Interact youth community service club. During his retirement, he enjoyed studying the Bible, family trips to Disney World, and perfecting his golf swing. Bob was a loving husband, father, and son. He was the best of friends, a man of great integrity and kindness, and a dedicated Christian man whose life was a dynamic testimony. He touched so many lives in and out of the church and school and he will be greatly missed. Survived by his wife Barbara J. Lawrence of 43 years, their son Dr. John R. Lawrence, M.D., both of Pennsville, NJ., his father Robert L. Lawrence Sr. of Carney's Point, NJ, and his mother-in-law Jean C. Smith of Pennsville, NJ, in addition to many other extended family. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday November 26, 2013 at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends and family may call.
