Obituary of M. Gertrude Moore

M. Gertrude Moore, age 86, of Beaumont, Texas passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2014. Born in Wilson, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Florence Long. She moved from Easton, PA to Pennsville, NJ following her marriage to the late Leonard F. Moore, (2001) then to Beaumont, TX in 1973 when her husband was transferred with the DuPont Company. Gertie was a homemaker who dearly loved her family and friends. She was devoted to her children, Leonard A. Moore and his wife Kathy of Pennsville, NJ, Bette Rogers and her husband Gary of Woodstown, NJ and Lisa Peterson and her husband Tom of Beaumont, TX; and her grandchildren, Eric Moore and his wife Debra of Wenham, MA, Dr. John Moore of Boston, MA, Daniel Rogers of Woodstown, NJ and Cal Peterson and Craig Peterson of Beaumont, TX; and her great grandchild Matthew Moore. Also survived by a brother, Oliver J. Long of Catasauqua, PA and sisters-in law, Dolores Long, Doris Moore and Carolyn Groeger. Predeceased by brothers William and John Long and sister, Bette Long Stamets. She enjoyed sharing her lovely home, spending time with her loved ones, cooking delicious meals, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching sports, playing bridge and dominos, and feeding the backyard birds. She will be remembered for her thoughtful ways, gracious spirit, and sweet personality. The family wishes to extend thanks to all those who showed our mother such kindness during her illness. A memorial gathering will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 N. Major Drive, Beaumont on Saturday, January 11, 2014 between 2:00 to 4:00 pm, with burial and service at a later date in NJ.
