Obituary of Robert D. Taylor, Sr.
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert D. Taylor, Sr., age 55 of Pennsville died Saturday, at his home, accompanied by family and friends. Born in Mannington on February 5, 1959, the son of Samuel and Mary E. Taylor. He grew up in Pennsville learning to operate construction equipment at a very young age along with his brothers, Randy & Brett, and at the same time he was hard at work in school. "Rob" became a talented heavy equipment operator for his father's business and was a "smooth operator" chosen by the elder Taylor to handle difficult demolition projects. He was also well known and respected by throngs of his friends and was someone that would go out of his way to lend a hand or help with a project, in-spite of his apparent complaints. He was always "paying forward" with his good hearted efforts in helping others. He loved taking cruises and shared that love with his grandchildren taking them along on a cruise aboard the Disney Dream. "Pop Pop Dirt", as he was affectionately known by some of his grandchildren, also enjoyed fishing and dancing. His dancing was sheer entertainment for so many as he marveled many with his gyrations and moves that only Michael Jackson could have understood. "Robby" also enjoyed his classic cars and was also suspected of being a "used car dealer" with his way of his handling the wheeling and dealings. His sense of humor was certainly contagious as well as his outlook on life which, during his recent illness, gained the attention and respect of his doctors and nurses who cared for him.
Rob is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Terri (Borrelli) Taylor, his son Robert Jr. (wife: Donna) and daughter Nicole Chiacchio (husband: Steve), his brothers Randy (wife: Vicki) and Brett (wife: Roxanne), sister Mary Taylor-Pierce (husband: Leroy), mother Mary E. Taylor and grandchildren Matthew, Trinity, and Sammie Taylor, and Kaylee Chiacchio. His family tree will also see a new addition within a week, Miss Alayna Chiacchio. He was predeceased by his son Matthew, his father Sam, brother Sammie and sister Vera Lynn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 30th at 10 AM at the Queen of the Apostles RC Church in Pennsville, where friends may call beginning at 9 AM. A visitation is also set for Thursday, May 29th, but will take place at the Queen of the Apostles Hall, adjacent to the church in Pennsville, where friends may call between the hours of 7 PM and 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please kindly donate in "Robby's" memory to: Relay For Life of Pennsville 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ 08034
