Sandra (Sandy) Lee McCarthy, 58, of Pennsville, NJ passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Sandy was born in Elmer, NJ to John and Marie O'Connor on December 1, 1956. She graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1975. Sandy worked most in Pennsville as a crossing guard for 9 years, where she impacted the lives of many children. She previously worked for Dad's Produce and Peebles. She enjoyed road trips to Lancaster, evenings on the beach, long talks on the phone, and listening to music. Sandy is survived by her husband Paul F. McCarthy, her son Travis (Angela) McCarthy, her grandson Finnley, her sister Debra Shimp and her nephews and niece Derek, Dane, Zak, and Randi Shimp, her cousin Brennie and nephew Matthew McLoone. She is preceded in death by her parents. Sandy had a deep love for animals; memorial donations can be made to local animal shelters. Funeral services will be held 6:00 PM on Monday Dec. 22 at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Burial will be private. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com.
