Obituary of Shirlee C. Hewitt

Shirlee (Carlson) Hewitt, a resident of Pilesgrove Township for the last sixty years, left this earth on October 30th, to join her husband and soul mate and other loved ones waiting for her to join them in Heaven. Her almost 92 year old soul mate and other loved ones waiting for her to join them in Heaven. Her almost 92 year old frail body was not able to recover from complications due to pneumonia.
She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn the loss of their mother, her daughters Sherry Dilks and Michelle Rastelli ( Anthony), granchildren Stephen Dilks (Tina), Nicole Dilks-Roszkowiak (John), Danny Greene (Wade) and Michael Greene; great granchildren Tyler Dilks, Kaitlyn Roszkowiak, Bob Barnard (Meghan), Dearrian Greene and Michael Greene, Jr. and a great-great grandson Jace Greene, aswell as two special daughters-of-the-heart Joan Lang and Jeane McConnell and familys. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Catherine (Little) Hewitt, Judy (Davis) Carlson Sparks and brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Dotty Hewitt and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shirlee was born in Rockford, Illinois on November 18, 1924 to the late Edwin H. and Frances E. (Anderson) Carlson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years E. Fenton Hewitt, a baby son Stephen Fenton Hewitt, three brothers Melvin D. Carlson, Clayton E. Carlson and David L. Carlson, Father and mother-in-law Leon and Lottie (Powers) Hewitt, as well as several sisters and brothers-in-law.
She moved with her family from Illinois to New Jersey in 1939 and settled in the Pennsville Twp area. In September of 1941 Shirlee and Fent were married and thus began their union of almost sixty-two years. In the spring of 1955 they began the construction of their home in Pilesgrove Twp. and moved in the spring of 1956 and lived the rest of their lives there.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday Nov. 4 at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.
