Obituary of William H. McMackin

William Henry McMackin, age 76 went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Thursday August 2, 2018. Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 12 1942, and moved to Penns Grove around 1950. He graduated from Penns Grove High School in 1960. Bill was in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970. He worked at DuPont Chambers Works from 1961-1992. Bill was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at the Penns Grove Assembly of God Church, as well as producing video tapes of various church and community activities. Bill was involved in coaching youth League baseball in Alloway when his son Billy played, and he kept the sore books for the youth league baseball and basketball when he wasn't videotaping the games. Bill had a ministry of giving haircuts to boys and men at Ranch Hope and Faith Farm, as well as to many in the church and community. Bill also led the Bible Study for the last ten years at Carneys Point senior Apartments, where he and Joy lived. Bill was predeceased by his father, Henry Mook, and his mother, Florence Smith, three step fathers Joseph McMackin, Isaiah Henry, and Carl smith. Bill was also predeceased by his brother, Robert McMackin. Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years Karen Joy McMackin (Nee Magill); his three children: Karen Michelle Johnson (Edwin), Kenneth R. McMackin (Kristin), and William J. McMackin (Aimee), and nine grandchildren, Makenzie and Kahlia Johnson, Kaelin, Aidan, Liam, and Andrew McMackin; and Victoria, Joseph and Karleigh McMackin. Bill is also survived by a sister, Carol Mendoza. Funeral services to celebrate Bill's life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday August 7, at the Bethel Bible Church, 20 S. Elmwood Ave., Carneys Point where relatives and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
