Georgette Marie Newsome Age: 55

After a valiant battle Georgette was called home on December 10th 2018 to be with the Lord. She was surrounded by her family. Georgette is survived by her loving husband Wade, daughter Paris (Joseph Dominic), son Colton, furbaby Riley and grandfurbaby Herc. Her mother Frances Verdecchio, siblings Debbie Whipkey (Mark), Alexis Verdecchio, Anthony Verdecchio, her mother in law Charlene Kerswill (Harry), brother in law Lance Newsome (Michelle), her loving nieces, nephews and friends, predeceased by her father Charles Verdecchio and her father in law Marvin Newsome (Donna).
Georgette was born in Mannington, NJ on October 5th 1963. She was raised in Carneys Point, NJ graduated from Penns Grove Carneys Point Regional High School in 1982. She married the love of her life in 1987, and they just recently celebrated their 31st anniversary. She worked for many years as a Phlebotomist for Quest Diagnostics. Georgette was always active in the community, whether it was a Cheerleading coach, volunteering for the midget wrestling organization, marathons for organizations for illnesses such as ALS and Cancer. She started and maintained the Marvin Newsome Scholarship Fund for Pennsville Memorial High School. Georgette had a passion for cooking, loved to dance, and had a soft spot for animals. She enjoyed reading, shopping, the beach, watching sunsets on her patio. But her greatest joy was taking care of others, her friends and especially her family. Georgette was the pillar of her family. She was spontaneous in nature and had a zest for life. Her smile was contagious. Georgette was truly the straw that stirred the drink.
Visitation at Laughrey Funeral Home on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel's Carneys Point on Monday, December 17th at 11:00am.
