Obituary of Lola Jean Benner

Lola Jean Benner, known to everyone as "Jeannie", passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Born on October 20, 1949, Jeannie was the daughter of Thomas Henry and Lola Mae (Wilkenson) Brooks. Born and raised in Waynesville, Missouri, Jeannie graduated from Waynesville High School in 1968. She later met and married Jeryl Lee Benner of Pennsville, New Jersey. Jeannie was the love of Jeryl's life for 47 years. Jeannie loved raising her children and attending their sporting activities. She also loved summers spent on the Wildwood Crest beach with family and friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday and shopping was a pastime she enjoyed. She also spent fun-loving times every year enjoying her "PPC shore weekend" with her close group of friends. More recently, Jeannie especially enjoyed spending time spoiling and loving her two grandchildren. Jeannie will be missed not only for her delicious cakes, pies and cookies that she baked for her family and friends, but more for her kind, thoughtful, and nurturing spirit. Predeceased by her parents, Jeannie is survived and will be missed by her husband, Jeryl L. Benner of Pennsville, NJ; Daughter, Ashley A. Zane (James) of Shelocta, PA ; Son, Thomas J. Benner (Cintia) of Newark, DE; Grandchildren, Edward E. Benner and Ava A. Zane. She is also survived by her siblings: Thomas Brooks (Nancy) of Richland, MO; Mark Brooks of Kansas City, MO; Jacquie Knapp (Darrell) of Stouland, MO; and Patricia Beasley (Donald) of Richland, MO; as well as her Mother-in-Law, Dorothy K. Benner of Punta Gorda, FL; Sister-in-Law, Diane Hefner of Port Charlotte, FL; Niece, Alisa Hefner of Little Rock, AR; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday February 11, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
