Obituary of William E. Roberts

On Sunday, May 26, 2019, William E. Roberts of Pennsville, New Jersey, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 56. Bill was born on November 21, 1962 in Wilmington, DE to William and Sandra (James) Roberts. He served as a member of the US Army until 1984, when he returned to his home in Salem County with his wife, Cynthia (Brown) and his newborn son. Together, Bill and Cindy raised three children William Jr., Stephanie, and Julie Roberts. Bill was an advocate for the use of medical marijuana to treat long-term illness and pain management and he actively encouraged state officials to pass laws for responsible adult use. He loved rock music and going to concerts, especially KISS and Ozzy Osbourne. In addition to rescuing animals from shelters, learning new technology and being a father figure to neighborhood kids, he loved taking long drives and greatly enjoyed his time as a CDL truck driver. Bill was known for his quick wit, great smile and ability to turn anything into a phenomenal story. He was a big guy, but his personality was even larger and he loved the spectacle of life. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cynthia, his three children, William Jr., Stephanie Dennis (Sean), and Julie Roberts, parents, William and Sandra Roberts, five grandsons and three siblings. Calling hours will be held from 11:30 am-12:30 pm on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Laughrey Funeral Home in Pennsville, NJ. Burial will take place at Lawnside Cemetary in Woodstown, NJ at 1:00pm.
