Obituary of James E. Cordwell

It is with incredibly heavy hearts we share the news of James Cordwell's passing on June 25, 2019. Jimmy fought a long and courageous battle against cancer. While we all miss him dearly we find peace in knowing he no longer has to suffer. James Cordwell, age 76 a lifelong resident of Pennsville was born in Denver, CO and was the son of the late James and Valasta Tate Cordwell. He is survived by his wife Edna (Maggie) Cordwell, children, Rhonda Reis Gresk, Sheli Steiner and her husband Jeff, Brian Cordwell and his wife Layla and Teri Cordwell, sisters, Barbara Jean Neal of DE, Mary Ann Schlutz of FL. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Toni, Dana, Ashley, Devon, James, Megan, Sara, Emma, Jack, Lucas and Joey. Besides his parents Jimmy was predeceased by a daughter, Vicki Cordwell and a brother, Rex Hendershot Jimmy was a hard worker and spent decades with the Millwright-Carpenters Local 542. He truly loved vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland with his family. He enjoyed summers sitting on his porch and relaxing in his screenhouse by the pool with friends and family. He was a beloved social member of the American Legion, VFW and St. Anthonys. He saw the beauty in life and enjoyed watching the sunset at the Riverview Inn. Jimmy had a contagious smile and to know him was to love him. He was truly a friend to all. A celebration of life will be held Saturday July 13, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the American Legion in Pennsville, NJ.
