Obituary of Robert W. Simmens

Robert W. "Bob" Simmens, age 66 of Pennsville, NJ passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born August 14, 1953 in Cape May, NJ and was the son of Virginia M. Hamilton and the late Cyrus K. Simmens. A 1971 Penns Grove High School graduate, Bob retired from General Motors after 28 years of service. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Pirates fan "Buco Bob". He enjoyed listening to classic rock, tending to his beautiful yard, cooking crabs for the family, but most of all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Bob loved all sports and especially coaching and cheering on his children and grandchildren. He was an active member of the VFW and Serviceman's Club where he enjoyed catching up with friends with an ice-cold beer. Bob was known to always lend a helping hand and was loved by many. Bob is survived by his son, Kristofer Simmens (Shanna) of Clayton, DE, daughter, Jacqueline Cox (Danny) of Hartly, DE, mother, Virginia Hamilton of Woolwich Twp, NJ, brother, Gary Simmens (Diane) of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, sisters, Bonnie Pierce (Neal) of Woolwich Twp, NJ, and Tina Sayers (Donald) of Middletown, DE. Grandchildren, Hailey, Kylie, Tripp, Lilliana, Logan, and several nieces and nephews. In addition, he is also survived by his stepmother, Sophie Simmens, stepsister, Stefanie Camarre and stepbrother, Philip Camarre (Miosotis). He is predeceased by his father, Cyrus Simmens. A time to gather and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, 1 North Broadway, Pennsville, NJ.
